German Police Raid Deutsche Bank Headquarters

Panama Papers: German Police Raid Deutsche Bank Headquarters Over Alleged Money Laundering, Stock Hits All Time Low

In what appears to be the latest in a string of financial crimes and scandals that have generated some $18 billion in fines since the financial crisis, prosecutors are investigating whether two employees in the bank’s wealth management division helped clients set up accounts in offshore tax havens, including the British Virgin Islands, and possibly allowed criminals to move money through these shelters, some of which may have flowed through accounts at the bank (other employees may also have been involved, prosecutors said).
According to the Financial Times the illicit transactions that two DB wealth management employees neglected to flag in 2016 alone stood at €311 million ($353 million), but people familiar with the case is almost certainly much larger, given that the suspicious activity continued for five years.

Financial Crime

The Global Financial Crime Wave Is No Accident

From the LIBOR-rigging scandal to the offshore secrets of the Panama Papersand ‘dark money’ in the Brexit vote, it is everywhere. In my recent work with anti-corruption group Global Witness, I saw first-hand how ordinary people in some of the world’s poorest countries suffer the consequences of corruption and financial crime. We exposed suspicious mining and oil deals in Central Africa, in which over a billion dollars of desperately-needed public finances were lost offshore. The story is about the West as much as Africa. The deals were routed through a dizzying web of offshore shell companies in the British Virgin Islands, often linked to listed companies in London, Toronto and elsewhere.
For Strange, money laundering, tax evasion and public embezzlement were a result of the collapse in the 1970s of the post-war financial order.

Yellow Vests Protesters in Paris

Argentina and France – Opponents of IMF versus Yellow Vests – Where Is the Correlation?

Will the people prevail? – Will France set an example for the rest of Europe? –  Mind you – Europe is in the plans to be derailed and robbed similarly and through different means.
So, what do the people of Argentina and the people of France have in common? – They both want to get rid of a despotic president, implanted by the western financial elite to steal the socioeconomic coffers of their heritage, and which, if not stopped, may continue a movement throughout the Americas and Europe.

American Corporations Are Winning Their War On Capitalism (Part 2 of The Myth of Capitalism)

Google, Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Microsoft have bought more than 500 companies in the past decade. These giants are looking for the younger fast growers.
Today firms find it is more profitable to restrict production than to invest in growing. Think of airlines that don’t want more capacity, beer companies that don’t expand plants, and cable companies that don’t upgrade infrastructure.
Instead, firms take their high profits and plow them into share buybacks. The money goes to wealthy shareholders who spend less relative to their income than poor people. And so low investment and low consumption are tied together.

Neoliberalism’s Dark Path to Fascism

Concentrating wealth in the hands of a global oligarchic elite—eight families now hold as much wealth as 50 percent of the world’s population—while demolishing government controls and regulations always creates massive income inequality and monopoly power, fuels political extremism and destroys democracy.
Neoliberalism generates little wealth. Rather, it redistributes it upward into the hands of the ruling elites. Harvey calls this “accumulation by dispossession.” Under neoliberalism, the process of “accumulation by dispossession” is accompanied by financialization.
Neoliberalism transforms freedom for the many into freedom for the few. Its logical result is neofascism. Neofascism abolishes civil liberties in the name of national security and brands whole groups as traitors and enemies of the people. It is the militarized instrument used by the ruling elites to maintain control, divide and tear apart the society and further accelerate pillage and social inequality.

Smart Pakem App

Fascist App is Now Here! Government Will Decide Whether Your Belief Is Right or Wrong

A few months ago, the Tax Office implemented a system to spy on citizens through social media, now there is an an app for heresy “Smart Pakem” where others can judge and prosecute you for your belief, and then the plan to implement Shariah Law, when Indonesia is not an Islamic country, it is a secular country which legally recognises other religions than just Islam. As if things are not already bad in Indonesia.
It seems one by one, step by step, the ruling elites are changing Indonesia, the secular country into an Islamic country like Saudi Arabia, changing Indonesia into a fascist dictatorship state. Will the Indonesians educate themselves and revolt to their ruling elites’ tyranny?

First International Conference Against US/NATO Bases Addresses Militarism

For the first time in the history of humanity, the technical means are at hand to eliminate poverty if resources were not diverted to making war. World hunger could be abolished with only a small diversion from military budgets. Roger Cole of the Irish peace organization PANA identified the twin threats to humankind of global warming and global war, both driven by accelerating militarization.
Actions are being planned in Washington, D.C., around the 70th anniversary of NATO on April 4th. Coincidentally that is the date of the assassination of Martin Luther King and of his famous speech a year before when he presciently admonished, “the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today is my own government.”

Anonymous Exposes UK’s Major Psy-Op Through Social Media Manipulation Campaign

The pot is calling the kettle black. As the freedom of the press is being suppressed and the media networks are following the government’s instructions about what information they should offer their readers, UK officials continue to brazenly deliver their pompous speeches about the need to protect those very values to which the government itself poses the greatest challenge. Anonymous is right — any responsible government must explain the intentions behind the Integrity Initiative, how exactly it is funded, and why its activities should be shielded from public view.

Indonesian President Jokowi

The March to Ruin: Why I think President Jokowi is a Puppet and a Dire Warning

Since Jokowi becomes President in 2014, intolerance has increased, there is no law and justice, economic social welfare hasn’t improved much, and the country is heading toward an Islamic country like that of Saudi Arabia.
Once Indonesia become an Islamic country, you can imagine the worst scenario will happen. There will be massacre of all the non Moslem (men, women, children), minorities (ethnic Chinese, LBGT, etc) and everyone who is against the government and against Indonesia to become an Islamic country. This will be worse than the Nazi concentration camp and the 1965 genocide. This is a possible risk that can’t be taken lightly.
If Indonesians don’t wake up fast and do something to change the direction of their country, they are definitely marching towards ruin. Its people need to revolt when the time comes or they will keep marching to Fascism and Ruin.

As Indonesia’s New President Takes Office, Cabinet Includes Officials Tied to Atrocities of Old

Jokowi was surrounded by killers. And some of those killers are now contending to be in his Cabinet. One of them, General Ryamizard, as you just mentioned, is already in. There are a few others in contention now.
General Wiranto, who was perhaps the worst mass murderer aside from Prabowo, he was penciled in to be the coordinating minister for security in Jokowi’s Cabinet. In that job, he could have taken de facto control of the army, police and intelligence.

Public city garden in Tehran, Iran

Hello – They Lied to You About Iran!

But unlike in Saudi Arabia or Indonesia, religion is not ‘being thrown into your face’ here; it is not waved as a flag. In Iran, religion is something internal, deep, which is expressed humbly and without noise. While the mosques of Jakarta broadcast, for hours a day and using powerful loudspeakers, entire sermons, while people are now being thrown into jail for even criticizing this brutal imposition of religion on the general public, in Tehran I could hardly even detect Adhan (call for prayer).
The West would never inflict sanctions on Indonesia or antagonize it in any other way, no matter how brutal it is to its own people: Washington, London and Canberra already ruined its socialist direction after the US-orchestrated coup of 1965.
Jakarta is now an obedient, turbo capitalist, anti-Communist, West-junk-food-and-crap-entertainment-loving society. It has nothing public left. The elites have fully robbed the country on behalf of the West. Religions in Indonesia are used to uphold the pro-Western fascist regime.

Weekend History Reading: US Has Killed More Than 20 Million People in 37 “Victim Nations” Since World War II

Let us put this in historical perspective: the commemoration of the War the End All Wars  acknowledges that 15 million lives were lost in the course of World War I (1914-18).
The loss of life in the second World War (1939-1945) was on a much large scale, when compared to World War I: 60 million lives both military and civilian were lost during World War II. (Four times those killed during World War I).
The largest WWII casualties  were China and the Soviet Union, 26 million in the Soviet Union,  China estimates its losses at approximately 20,000,000 deaths. Ironically, these two countries (allies of the US during WWII) which lost a large share of their population during WWII are now categorized as enemies of America, which are threatening the Western World.  A so-called preemptive war against China and Russia is currently contemplated.
Germany and Austria lost approximately 8 million people during WWII, Japan lost more than 2.5 million people. The US and Britain respectively lost more than 400,000 lives.
This carefully documented article by James A. Lucas  documents the more than 20 million lives lost resulting from US led wars, military coups and intelligence ops carried out in the wake of what is euphemistically called the “post-war era” (1945- ).

How the US Creates ‘Sh*thole’ Countries

In the essay, The End of Washington’s ‘Wars on the Cheap’, The Saker sums up U.S. foreign policy as follows: “Here’s the template for typical Empire action: find some weak country, subvert it, accuse it of human right violations, slap economic sanctions, trigger riots and intervene militarily in ‘defense’ of ‘democracy’, ‘freedom’ and ‘self-determination’ (or some other combo of equally pious and meaningless concepts).” The hypocrisy of such a policy is obvious. A weak and vulnerable nation is victimized by a far more powerful one. The U.S. has done this countless times in its history, and there appears to be no appetite in the government to change.
Lastly, the U.S. Itself can be described as a ‘sh*thole’ country with its many violations of international law, and crimes against humanity.

Save the Children: 85,000 Children May Have Already Died of Hunger in Yemen

A leading international aid group said Wednesday that an estimated 85,000 Yemeni children under the age of 5 may have died of hunger and disease since the outbreak of the country’s civil war in 2015.
Save the Children based its figures on mortality rates for untreated cases of severe acute malnutrition, or SAM, in young children. The United Nations says more than 1.3 million children have suffered from SAM since a Saudi-led coalition went to war with Yemen’s Houthi rebels in March 2015.
